Description
The final subject in the undergraduate technology and environmental stream requires students to undertake an approach to documenting one's design work per project delivery methods used in the framework of professional practice. This includes development of documentation from concept to construction documentation in the form of industry standard 2D and 3D representation and general strategies for the procurement and project management of projects. This shall include studies of structure, codes and standards, construction systems, materials, services, enclosure, thermal comfort, natural and artificial lighting, climate and acoustics covering content delivered over the length of the undergraduate technology and environmental stream. Advanced methods of communication shall be encouraged and explored where possible and site visits to construction sites undertaken. In preparation for experience in practice, students are provided with an overview of the legislative and legal framework in which the profession operates. Students also undertake a series of tasks that assist in the development of key skills and strategies for use when seeking employment in the industry.

Develop and demonstrate understanding of design procedures, systems, and methods for articulating a design concept through material detail, and to articulate the comprehensive design through a coherent set of structural and construction systems (AIA Tertiary Education Policy 3.1.1, 3.2.1, and 3.2.2).
2. Develop and demonstrate understanding of the building project cycle, the role of the architect, awareness of procurement strategies and relevant codes (AIA Tertiary Education Policy 3.4.1 and 3.4.2)
3. Develop and demonstrate a variety of means of communication, including 2D and 3D drawing, presentation, written, oral and modelling skills (AIA Tertiary Education Policy 3.7.1 and 3.7.2).
4. Demonstrate effective communication, collaborative and organisational skills in a group setting (AIA Tertiary Education Policy category 3.7.2).
5. Demonstrate understanding of application of appropriate materials in assembly and construction systems and how technological and environmental design involve the resourcing, configuration, and deployment of material in a variety of contexts (AIA Tertiary Education Policy category 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.6.1, 3.6.2, 3.7.2).
