The Academic Extended Research Leave program (AERLP) is intended to allow staff to enhance the momentum on specific research projects and focuses on research outcomes. Extended Research Leave is one additional non-teaching semester where an academic is released from teaching and administrative duties to focus on research and scholarly activities.

The Research Supervision Award celebrates the outstanding achievements of research supervisors.

The Award is presented each year during Research Week, with the recipient's name included on the honour board in the Main Library. The recipient also receives a small grant to be used to fund activities related to research, in addition to a framed certificate signed by the Vice Chancellor.

Nominations are open once a year and are made through Faculty, by the Executive Dean.
