Global and Comparative Law and Policy Network

About the Network

The Global and Comparative Law and Policy (GCLP) Network, previously known as the Transnational, International, and Comparative Law and Policy (TICLP) Network, is an interdisciplinary research network engaged in legal and policy research.

Based at Bond University Faculty of Law, the GCLP Network is a hub for multidisciplinary research on comparative and global regulatory issues of law and policy and on legal and social change.

The objectives of the GCLP are to:

  • promote cutting-edge research addressing regulatory issues confronting Australia in comparative and global perspective;
  • promote research and interdisciplinary dialogue on social and legal change;
  • engage in continuing elucidation and analysis of areas of transnational, comparative and international law;
  • attract and supervise appropriately qualified HDR students;
  • heighten public awareness of and contribute to the national debate on the role of Australia in the Asian Century and in a globalising world; and
  • contribute to the formulation of government policies in such areas as international relations, international trade and investment, international finance, national and regional security, human rights, and dispute resolution.

To that end, the GCLP Network hosts conferences, seminars and workshops on international law and comparative law and policy issues. A number of our events have led to publication outcomes, such as the 2018 publication by Routledge of the book Global Governance and Regulation: Order and Disorder in the 21st Century. In this way, the GCLP Network contributes to dialogue on various aspects of global and comparative law and policy. The GCLP Network also seeks to promote scholarly exchanges by encouraging visiting scholars from Australian or overseas universities to conduct research at Bond University and welcome queries from prospective HDR students.
