Professional biography

Masanori spent 7 years in banking business in Japan before started teaching Japanese as a second language at language institutes in Tokyo, where for 5 years he also taught some teacher training courses for the prospective teachers of Japanese language. His interest in teaching Japanese expanded and brought him to Australia. First, he joined Bond University as a student for the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics. After the completion of the degree, he started his doctoral research studies and joined the Faculty as an academic staff member. He completed his PhD at the University of South Australia, and continues to study students' motivation and successful second language acquisition.

Teaching expertise

Masanori specialises in second/foreign language acquisition theories, especially in LOTE (Language Other Than English), Japanese and English (EFL).
