A variety of continuing professional development (CPD) training is provided by the Centre for Dispute Resolution. Please see available short courses below.

Professional Clinical Supervision
- Duration: One-hour online sessions
- Cost: $110 per session or $990 for ten sessions

Professional Clinical Supervision is an invaluable form of continuing professional development (CPD) for new and experienced mediators. Â Professional Clinical Supervision provides the opportunity for ongoing professional growth that will assist with achieving, maintaining, and growing the core competencies required within the mediation profession. Group and/or individual sessions are available and are tailored to meet the needs of the participants. Â
Ongoing professional development is a requirement for National Accreditation and FDRP registration.
One-hour clinical supervisions are held online with Bobbi Reilly. Â This opportunity is offered by Bond University in partnership with Gold Coast Mediation and Counselling.

FDR Preparation Course
- Duration: Online, self-paced
- Cost: $295
- When: Ongoing
- Pre-requisites: Current National Mediator accreditation and meeting the FDRP requisites.
This online course has been developed for participants who have not completed Mediation training and assessment through the Centre for Dispute Resolution (CDR).  Completion of this course allows entry to the FDR Practitioner Training Course.
The FDR Training Preparation course has been designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and processes from the Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution Community Services Training Package CHC81115 that will be further enhanced and developed in the Bond University CDR intensive Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Training course.Â

Family Dispute Resolution Clinic Supervised Practice
- Duration: 20 hours (completed over four mediation and intake sessions as advised by the CDR)
- Cost: $2,200 + $200 assessment fee
- Pre-requisites: Completion of the FDRP Clinical Training Course with Bond University or another provider of FDRP Training and 30 hours of supervised practice
Registration details will be provided to course participants on completion of the FDRP Training Course.
On completion of the FDRP Clinical Training Course, participants may apply to undertake the remaining 20 hours of supervised FDR practice at the Bond FDR clinic.
FDRP trainees can complete a maximum of 20 hours supervised practice in the Bond University FDR Clinic. Please contact [email protected] for further information.
The Bond Centre for Dispute Resolution (CDR) will work with participants to ensure their supervised FDR hours are completed as quickly as possible but please bear in mind your required hours may be scheduled over several weeks to allow as many participants as possible the opportunity to participate in the clinic. Please also note that parties may cancel because of illness, childcare, other reasons and that any costs incurred by the student to travel to clinic sessions are not the responsibility of the CDR.
Please note an assessment fee of $200 is payable on submission of the FDR Supervision Approval form.
A certificate of completion will only be issued on completion of the FDR Clinical Training Course and the required hours of FDR supervised practice.Â

Mediating Property Settlements
- Duration: 2 days
- Cost: $1350
- Pre-requisites: National mediator or FDRP accreditation Â
In this course, participants will learn about how the Family Court divides property under the Family Law Act 1975 between separated couples. Those couples may be married, in a de facto relationship or same-sex relationships.
The course provides family mediators and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners with knowledge, process, skills and strategies that will assist them in mediating disputes relating to financial and property matters. It will provide participants with an overview of the legal context for mediating these cases. It is not designed to equip mediators with legal knowledge for the purposes of providing legal advice in property settlement mediations.
A certificate of attendance will be awarded upon completion of the course.

FDRP 20-Hour Clinical Course
- Duration: 20 hours (completed over four mediation and intake sessions as advised by the CDR)
- Cost: $2,200 + $200 assessment fee
- Pre-requisites: Completion of the FDRP Clinical Training Course with Bond University
The Bond University Centre for Dispute Resolution will be hosting an additional short course to assist learners who are seeking to achieve their 50 hours of supervised workplace practice for accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) and who still have at least 20 hours to complete.
On completion of the FDRP Clinical Training Course, participants may complete the remaining 20 hours of supervised FDR practice required to apply for accreditation by the Federal Attorney-General’s office as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner via our final short course - the FDRP 20 Hour Clinical Course.Â
The FDRP 20 Hour Clinical Course will be held over three days where FDRP trainees will have the opportunity to learn about Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) case management, the FDR process, skills and ethical obligations of FDRP. Trainees will also conduct intake and safety screening sessions and mediate role-play FDR sessions. Trainees will also learn how to compile and complete case file documentation. The course is designed to provide trainees with critical skills for real-life practice.Â

Cancellation policy
There is a restriction on numbers at all Centre for Dispute Resolution courses. Registrations are accepted only when full payment is made.

Cancellation by the CDR
- The Centre reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses at its discretion.
- In the event that a course is cancelled, participants will be advised no less than five (5) working days prior to the course starting.
- Participants will be given the option of transferring their registration free of charge to the next available course in the first instance. At the request of the participant, a full refund may be available.Â

Cancellation by participant
If a participant elects to cancel their enrolment in a course, cancellation fees will apply as follows:
- More than 15 business days prior to the start of a course – transfer to the next available course or a full refund.
- Cancellations within 5 business days prior to the start of a course are not eligible for a refund. Â However, participants may apply to transfer to the next available course. Full refunds may be provided under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Centre.
- Once a course has commenced, refunds or transfers are no longer available and registration fees are forfeited.
Participants may only transfer their registration once. If unable to attend the second offering, and notification is received within 5 business days of the course commencement, the registration fees will be forfeited.Â
Important information
All short course participants should be aware of the following important information regarding our short courses.

Continuing professional development (CPD)
Legal practitioners may be eligible to apply up to 10 CPD units for completion of each short course. As per the QLS rules, it is up to the practitioner to identify which core area it applies to from their perspective.

Mediator and FDR work
Completion of these courses does not guarantee work as a mediator or FDR practitioner. Participants should also consult with the accrediting and/or registration bodies to ensure they have met any additional requirements.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is not usually awarded for CDR courses. Participants who wish to discuss this further should contact the CDR Office prior to registration via email at [email protected].

Certification
A certificate or letter of attendance will be issued at the end of each course providing all requirements have been completed. Â
If a certificate is misplaced, a new certificate may be reissued upon payment of the $25 processing fee.
