Description

Spanish Language and Culture is designed for students with no previous knowledge of the Spanish language. Spanish is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world, spoken as an official language in over twenty countries and in many international organisations such as the United Nations or the European Union. Studying Spanish language, cultures and societies will expand your cultural and intercultural awareness and your ability to communicate effectively across cultural borders. It will also extend your global career opportunities.  Through content and language integrated approach, focusing on aspects of Spanish culture, the subject also aims to develop basic communicative proficiency in the Spanish Language.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify, analyse, evaluate and communicate introductory knowledge of the Spanish language and broad theoretical knowledge about the Spanish Language and Culture.
  2. Independently and in teams, generate and transmit solutions to unpredictable and sometimes complex problems related to the Spanish Language and Culture.
  3. Apply the knowledge and understanding of the Spanish Language and Culture to professional work and/or further learning, demonstrating well-developed judgement and responsibility.

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study.
