PHIL11-130: Watching Movies, Doing Philosophy

Description

How can the power of storytelling in movies and TV illuminate and challenge our understanding of the world, society, and the self? In this subject we do philosophy by watching films and TV: using storytelling to unravel philosophical conundrums and deepen thinking on such issues as free will, the nature of reality, consciousness, and morality. You will have the opportunity to visit the Gold Coast's Home of the Arts (HOTA) and be a part of the Movie Review Club to discuss select films with a panel of academics.
