LING71-107: Curriculum Design

Description

This subject introduces you to the processes and procedures involved in the development of language programs. You will explore factors influencing a decision-making process and learn procedures necessary for designing a language subject or curriculum. Curriculum Design investigates the nature of syllabus design and its principal elements. You will also study how to design language programs based on specific pedagogical approaches. Throughout the semester, you will learn how to apply the theories of language syllabus design to specific educational contexts.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify, synthesise, interpret and communicate complex issues in designing curriculum for teaching and learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
  2. Independently and in teams, demonstrate expert cognitive skills to solve complex problems in designing curriculum for learning and teaching English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
  3. Apply this disciplinary knowledge to new educational contexts, demonstrating expert judgement, adaptability and responsibility as an English language educator.
