GDLP77-303: Wills and Estates Practice


This is an elective subject for the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice which covers the optional practice area “Wills and Estates Practice”.

This subject focusses on providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to act for clients in relation to wills and estate administration. Students will engage in aspects of wills and estate law practice, become familiar with the legislation and procedures and draft relevant documents.

Learning outcomes

1. Identify requirements and processes when drafting wills and administering estates. 2. Draft litigious and non-litigious wills and estate administration documents. 3. Identify wills and estate issues and demonstrate an ability to solve problems.

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.

Students are expected to have completed at least 40 credit points of GDLP75 subjects.
