DIXN13-300: Developing a Business Case for Digital Transformation

Description

A business case is intended to convince key decision-makers of the merits of a particular course of action. This subject leads students through a systematic process in developing compelling business cases for various internal organisational initiatives, including digital transformations and other large organisation-wide projects. Throughout the semester, students will work in small teams to design and assess the viability of an internal business opportunity by understanding customer needs, industry dynamics, financial implications, resource needs, and associated risk factors.

Learning outcomes

1. Explain the key business considerations for evaluating organisational change. 2. Apply relevant concepts and tools to develop a business case for organisational change within a group context. 3. Determine the key financial and non-financial resources required for organisational change. 4. Assess the internal and external environmental factors affecting the proposed change to evaluate the associated risks and determine appropriate countermeasures. 5. Communicate the business case for a major change project verbally and in writing.
