Centre for Comparative Construction Research

Our centre

The Centre for Comparative Construction Research is founded on the idea that research into the building and property industries must be broad and inclusive, recognising the complexity and diversity of industries, economic challenges and social imperatives that underlie this most fundamental of human activities.

The role of the Centre is to develop research projects, foster industry contacts and assist in developing research collaborations that will lead to a better understanding of issues faced by the construction and associated industries, and lead to improvements in culture and practice.

The Centre is dedicated to research that helps building and property firms meet the practical challenges and ethical imperatives of their industries. Its strength lies in an interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together researchers in construction, project management, property, urban design, architecture and psychology, guided by the overarching aim of enhancing the productive, ethical and safe integration of people, technology and business.

Our vision is to be a respected and independent source of research concerning the contribution that the built environment makes to our collective prosperity.

Community impact

The CCCR represents an interdisciplinary collaboration combining, but not limited to, architecture, construction and urban planning expertise.

Buildings and other urban infrastructure have become complicated and expensive assets that reflect a mix of financial, social, ethical and environmental characteristics.

Our research is cognisant of expected trends in future practice – climate change, automation and globalisation. The nexus of our research interests is achieving progressive built environment infrastructure.
