Professional biography

Mark Spence completed his education at the University of Arizona in 1993 with a Ph.D. in Marketing. Prior to entering the doctoral program, he was Program Manager at Gnostic Concepts, Inc., a market research firm in the Silicon Valley, California, specializing in high technology products. In addition to managing quarterly syndicated reports, he executed both qualitative and quantitative market research, developed regression-based forecasting models, and interfaced with high-volume domestic and international clients. Dr. Spence joined Bond University, Australia, in 2002, where he is Professor of Marketing. Formerly he was with Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. He has taught a variety of marketing courses to undergraduates, postgraduates and executives, including Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Strategy and Market Research. He has successfully supervised four doctoral students. Mark has published extensively in the field of behavioural decision making, with articles appearing in top-tier journals including Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, European Journal of Marketing, and Psychology & Marketing. Dr. Spence is also Marketing Consultant to Ozone1 Pty Ltd, an Australian manufacturer and distributor of ozonation systems for water purification. Mark Spence has visited over 40 countries on six continents.
