The Bull Sharks’ Premier Women’s Rugby side bounced back from last week’s defeat to beat Wests Bulldogs 27-17 in a strong win for the club.

A stunning intercept to winger Dianne Wright, who sprinted the length of the field to score with just two minutes on the clock, clinched the win for the Bull Sharks.

The visitors started slowly, conceding two early tries and going into half time 12-0 down as the rain continued to pour over the Sci-Fleet Stadium in Toowong.

The Bull Sharks came out firing in the second half with Australian Wallaroos pairing Melanie Wilks and Madi Schuck scoring back-to-back tries for Bond.

With some terrific expansive play in the trying conditions, Bond University pushed further ahead with a try to speedster Charlize Ratu.

The Bulldogs made a late comeback, bringing the score to 22-17, and the home side looked certain to cross but were thwarted by Wright’s incredible turn of speed.

Bond University flanker Grace Baker was happy with the side’s willingness to stay in the match for the full 70 minutes.

“We did well to keep our composure in the final stages which was really good with Dianne scoring at the end to win the game,” she said.

The Bull Sharks women’s side will look to continue their winning ways as they take on the Norths Eagles next week.
