BUSA Management Committee

Josiah Neal

President

Hi Bondies! My name is Josiah Neal, and I am currently in my 9th semester of a Law and International Relations double degree, and I live on campus. In the 2021/22 BUSA Elections, I am running in a pod with Paige Prieditis and Annabel Smyth for the BUSA Executive. Our slogan is ‘Building a better Bond’ and I strongly believe that I can enact positive change through my role as President alongside Paige as Treasurer and Annabel as Secretary. For my role, my vision is to lead the Committee in helping to re-vitalise campus life via increasing student engagement and participation as we enter a post-COVID-19 world. Further, I will represent the student body’s interests and concerns accurately and promptly to the necessary University stakeholders. As part of our pod, the ‘Lake Divers’, I can help to bring experience, competence and diversity to the BUSA Executive and ensure that the Committee has clear direction and leadership. My previous time on BUSA in 2019-2020, the skills I have developed through leading different student clubs and my familiarity with the University will all contribute to exemplary leadership on my part. Vote for the Lake Divers Pod for BUSA Executive 2021/22!

Annabel Smyth

Secretary

Hey!! I’m Annabel Smyth and I’m a biomedical science student in my third semester. I am a local from the blocks, would love to be on the Busa executive for 2021/2022 and am ready to ‘build a better bond’. Along with Josiah as president, Paige as treasurer and myself as secretary, the lake divers are keen to bring experience, competence and diversity to BUSA. I strongly believe I’m not only capable but best suited to this executive role due to my extensive experience in leadership, administrative and customer service roles. Within the role of secretary, I will utilise my adept leadership skills to represent my fellow students in decisions made such as upping the anti at Wednesday’s by the water with open mics and collaborations with different clubs and societies. Similarly, as an approachable and friendly face on campus I am happy to take on any questions and feedback regarding the social events at Bond and will use my organisational skills to see those comments put into action. Lake divers’ vision is to see the student experience and life at Bond continue to flourish post covid and so I implore you to vote for lake divers pod for executive 2021/2022.

Bronte Anderson

Publications Director
After living in Melbourne my whole life and zoom-ing my way through a 9-month lockdown, I decided to take the leap and move to the Gold Coast to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer. I’ve dreamt of being a lawyer for as long as I can remember and I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Laws. I have a keen interest in writing and have always had a great deal to do with my high school and workplace publications. I believe I will be a great fit for this role as I am diligent, have a love of writing and design, and a keen eye for detail. I look forward to having the opportunity to drive a positive impact on the university through the revival of the Bound Magazine and implement ideas and events that will positively influence the bond community and provide everyone a voice.

Max Liversage

Corporate Relations Director

Hello Bondies, my name is Max and I was lucky enough to start at Bond in semester 211. Having been a local for the past 6 years it only made sense to come Bond where I am studying Commerce majoring in finance and accounting. Having worked in corporate tax for the past year since graduating high school I have been exposed to hundreds of Australia’s largest companies which has allowed me to develop significant industry connections. Due to this when I saw an opportunity to utilise my connections and all that I have learnt whilst giving back the Bond community it only made sense to apply. If I’m successful in becoming your corporate relations director I will ensure that we have the best sponsors possible to keep the parties going.

Celine Dixon

Sporting Events and Projects Director

Hi everyone!! I’m Celine Dixon, I’m 19 and I’m from a remote cattle property 5 hours West of Townsville and went to a boarding school in Toowoomba.
I’m in my third semester of a bachelor of Psychological Science. I chose this course because I love working with and helping people and hope to work in the forensic field.

The role of Sporting Events and Projects Director is aimed at facilitating a sporting culture that encourages social involvement in sporting events promotes health and physical activity.
I’m excited about this role because sport is for everyone. Take it from me, you don’t need to be an elite athlete to play sport, nor do you need to have an idea about sport to watch the game! It also is a great way to meet new people and try something new!! As SEPD I would look to make sport at Bond fun, inclusive and expansive. I am keen to run events which coincide with sports games/events happening locally, nationally, and globally. Some ideas for sporting events I’ve had include The Bond Ashes (backyard cricket), Melbourne Cup Day and social Oztag.

So, vote for Celine for SEPD!!!

Lachlan Creese

Special Interests Director

Hi, I’m Lachlan Creese ☺ To me, the topics of Mental Health and advocacy are incredibly personal and important. The recent chapter of my life has been largely influenced by overcoming adversity and becoming empowered by it, with this leading me to nominate for Special Interest Director for 2021/22. In my short time at Bond, I have worked personally with staff to assess how systems around student support could be better run, and how we as students could be better serviced. These opportunities have led me to become involved with the new limitless learning program, and the upcoming kindness week initiative. Separate from my involvements at Bond, I have worked with the Cancer Council Tasmania for the past two years as their Young Ambassador, advocating for the practical and mental health impacts of being a young carer. In my role I have had the honour to share my story and work with other young people to empower them on their unique cancer journey. I have also worked with LGBTIQ+ support and advocacy groups and volunteered in multiple other roles to support disadvantaged minority groups. ♡ Lachie

Jacob Castle

Marketing Director
Hello fellow Bondies I’m Jacob, you may or may not know who I am; to catch you up here is a short 200-word speed date detailing what I’m about. I lived in Brisbane for most of my life before I decided to take the leap down to the Gold Coast to pursue my studies. I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Business in which I plan to major in marketing. Due to my passion for multimedia/marketing, I investigated internship and job opportunities straight after graduating from school to build up my portfolio before commencing enrolment at Bond in semester 211. I was lucky enough to be offered a position at Slate Media as a Tier 1 creative. Granting me the opportunity to work on hype-reels, advertisements, and music videos for reputable brands such as Netflix, Sony, Bornbredtalent, and beforeyouspeakcoffe, just to name a few. More importantly, through this work, I have learnt how these big brands operate behind the scenes in an attempt to maximise consumer engagement in a constantly evolving industry. With a desire to work in the media/marketing industry, it made sense to apply for Marketing Director to develop my skills whilst having a positive impact on the campus lifestyle.
