Australian Swim Team brings training to Bond University

Several members of the Australian Swim Team have spent the past two weeks training at Bond University in the lead up to the London Olympic Games.

Drawn to the Gold Coast by the weather, diversity of the destination, and first-class facilities at Bond, the squad included James Magnussen, Daniel Tranter, Jessica Ashwood, Daniel Arnamnart and Jayden Hadler.

The five members who are from the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, and supported by the New South Wales Institute of Sport, were joined by their coach Brant Best, physiotherapist David Pugh, strength coach Michael Hetherington, sport scientist Erin Mcleave and high performance consultant Brian Sutton.

Team coach Brant Best said the squad enjoyed swimming at Bond because the privacy of the facilities meant they could train without distraction.

Training on the Gold Coast has also provided a good opportunity for team bonding with visits to Pacific Fair, Dreamworld and the beach.

The team will head to London on July 12.
