Homecoming wraps up with thousands raised for scholarships

Bond University’s second annual Giving Day has raised $123,111 for scholarships and the university’s endowment fund.

The figure topped the target of $120,000, with the largest single donation a pledge of $15,000.

The money is being split between the Scholarship Fund which protects classroom diversity and promotes equal access to quality education; the Area of Greatest Need Fund to provide immediate support to students in need; and the Endowment Fund which supports the long-term financial stability of the university.

The university spends only 50 per cent of the interest earned from the Endowment Fund so the principal grows each year.

Giving Day was part of Homecoming 2022 when alumni traditionally return to campus or reconnect with their alma mater online.

A highlight of Homecoming was the Alumni Awards, with PwC Australia CEO Tom Seymour collecting the Robert Stable Medal.

The university’s Community Achievement Award went to Carly Fradgley, the Founder and CEO of charity Baby Give Back, while the Young Alumni Award went to Deloshaan Subhaharan, a Medical Registrar at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Unfortunately the social highlight of the week, two Bull Sharks AFL home games, were cancelled due to unrelenting rain.
