Graduation in pictures

Last week’s Bond University graduation ceremonies were a time for both celebration and reflection as more than 560 students received their degrees.

For some, border closures and Covid-19 restrictions made it impossible to travel to the Gold Coast, but despite these challenges, many were able to partake in the ceremony online.

Doctor of Physiotherapy graduate Thomas Callonea was unable to travel to Bond from Melbourne.

Instead, his friends and fellow graduates, Mana Shigematsu and Graham Marvin, printed his photograph and carried it around on a cushion called “pillow face.”

“Instead of taking the chance of possibly having to quarantine, I just stayed in Victoria,” Mr Callonea said.

“A few others had to do the same thing, so it was a bit of a bummer for us.

“Luckily, I’ve got some good mates that surprised me with the ‘pillow face’.”
