Titans of industry to discuss housing affordability

Three of Australia's leading property identities - including Aussie founder and executive chairman, John Symond - will discuss housing affordability at the 2016 Titans of Industry Forum at Bond University next month.

Mr Symond will be joined by Century 21 chairman Charles Tarbey and RP Data senior research analyst, Cameron Kusher, at the luncheon on Tuesday, March 15, hosted by Bond Business School's student finance society, Bond Investment Group (BIG).

BIG president Charles Wannan said the event would look at young Australians' prospects for entering the housing market, with property prices increasing around the country, along with a number of other issues facing the sector.

"John, Charles and Cameron are among the most respected identities in the property industry in Australia, so this will be a great opportunity to hear from some of the best," he said.

"Housing affordability is an issue of growing concern, particularly for young people, and the event will look at it from all angles - taking in the perspective of an industry leading mortgage broker, real estate agent and research analyst.

"As such, we are expecting the luncheon to appeal to a diverse cross-section of the community, including the business and property industries, along with students, staff and alumni."

Since its inception in 1992, Aussie has grown to become Australia's leading mortgage broker, with a loan portfolio of more than $55 billion and almost 1000 mortgage brokers.

Aussie founder and executive chairman, Mr Symond, has been widely credited with bringing competition to the Australian home lending industry, resulting in lower interest rates and improved service for homebuyers.  He was the first non-banker to be inducted into the Australian Banking and Finance Magazine's Hall of Fame in May 2004.

Real estate guru and author Mr Tarbey began his career as an assistant property manager in 1972, selling his first home at just 18 years of age.  Three years later he purchased a real estate business, before launching Combined Real Estate in 1983, which grew to offer 56 offices in New South Wales.

In 1995, he purchased the Australasian arm of Century 21 and in 2011 acquired the property assets of property management group, Wentworth Holdings, making Century 21 today one of Australia's largest and most diverse property groups.

Specialising in data analysis, property market commentary and consultancy, Mr Kusher is one of Australia's most respected industry research analysts.

He has a thorough understanding of the fundamentals underpinning property, including demographics, trends, economics and spatial analysis and is a regular keynote speaker for property-related groups, regulated industry bodies, corporations and the government sectors.

The 2016 Titans of Industry Forum will run from 12pm to 2.30pm on Tuesday, March 15, at the Princeton Room, Bond University. Tickets are $120 per person or $1,100 per table of 10.
