About the Position 
As an academic staff within the Abedian School of Architecture, this position will contribute to teaching, research and service in the School, The Faculty of Society & Design, and University at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, with particular emphasis on building technology, material, and architectural design.

The role requires a deep understanding of architectural design and building technology within contemporary design contexts, including but not limited to the study of tectonics, material practice, emerging technologies, decolonisation, and sustainability. An understanding of the architectural practice environment will be beneficial.

About the person

The successful applicant will, ideally, be a mid-career researcher and educator who can demonstrate a track record of quality research publications (including NTROs) and impactful teaching and learning with excellent student satisfaction. The person will possess an accredited professional or terminal degree in Architecture and have at least three years of teaching experience in an accredited architecture program. They will have an architecturally relevant PhD or are in the process of completing a PhD. Professional experience with significant recognition nationally or internationally is highly valued.

The architectural education at the Abedian School of Architecture is practice-based, with a dynamic studio environment where the quality of the student’s educational experience is paramount. A successful applicant should demonstrate a distinct or emerging design pedagogy, including strategies and approaches through teaching activities.

The applicant will actively participate in the School’s vibrant design studio culture, discourse and experimentation through pedagogical and research-focused initiatives, including teaching architectural design detailing and digital fabrication. They will be a collaborative member of the Faculty’s teaching and research community and play an instrumental role in developing a leading research culture at PhD level in the School. The applicant should demonstrate service contributions at the institutional, professional and/or community levels.

Salary details

The salary for the position commences at $162,466.69 plus 11.5% superannuation and will be negotiated commensurate on skills and experience.
