This is an outstanding opportunity based on the Gold Coast for a suitably qualified and experienced leading academic to join the School of Psychology within the Faculty of Society & Design. The School provides teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, with a strong reputation for its PG Clinical and Professional programs. The School advocates a translational approach to research, often taking a multi-disciplinary and partnership approach to working with industry and has strengths in forensic psychology, neuropsychology, personality, addiction, social psychology, health psychology, learning, and human cognition.
As a senior member of academic staff, the successful applicant will make a significant contribution to Psychology programs, the Faculty and the wider University by strengthening and providing leadership in research and scholarship, teaching, academic administration, and community/industry engagement.
- About the person:
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in a relevant sub-discipline of psychology and have extensive academic experience at the highest level. They will be recognised both nationally and internationally for their research by demonstrating an original and innovative contribution. Other evidence of success will be through leading research teams, obtaining external grant funding, publishing the highest quality outputs and through the ongoing commitment to supervising and mentoring postgraduate students.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of experience in contemporary teaching methods, including small group learning and technology-based teaching. They will also have a strong network and linkages with appropriate external professional organisations and relevant industries, and value the mentoring of more junior staff.
Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor may be considered for this appointment if they can demonstrate exceptional performance and where progression to full Professor is imminent.
