LING71-102: Practice of Language Teaching


Practice of Language Teaching is the most practical subject in the TESOL program. As part of the program and subject requirements, you will be evaluated during classroom-based teaching practicum. Throughout the semester, you will expand your practical skills as an English Language teacher. You will also have an opportunity to apply the previously gained knowledge and skills to teach English as an Additional Language or Dialect in an authentic classroom. Throughout the semester, students strengthen their teaching skills through reflective and collaborative practices. The Practicum may take place in different educational contexts, depending on your professional interests and prior qualifications. We provide some assistance for local students in organising the Practicum at Bond University College, our English Language Teaching institute, which is also dependant on your performance in the subject. If you are a registered teacher, you will be able to undertake the Practicum at the place of your employment. If you study part-time, you will complete this subject at the final stages of their TESOL programs.

Learning outcomes

Independently and in teams, demonstrate expert cognitive skills to solve complex problems in the practice of Teaching and Learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect. 3. Apply gained knowledge and skills to new professional contexts, demonstrating expert judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a language teaching practitioner.
