LAWS13-126: Climate Change and Human Rights

Description

Climate Change and Human Rights is an elective subject in undergraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Law. This advanced level law subject investigates the interplay between human rights law and climate justice. An assessment is made of the absence/conflict of laws in these two areas, and collaborative evolution and application of laws in these emerging fields. There is a particular focus upon the consequences of environmental degradation (contemporary and inter-generational), regulation of environmental stewardship, and inter-generational legal issues.

Learning outcomes

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of climate change upon human rights.
  2. Demonstrate advanced level research, reasoning, and communication skills in the application of the above knowledge to particular climate change related issues.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to apply the above knowledge and skills to plan and execute a substantial research project.
