This subject is part of a suite providing for four separate analytic studies involving theoretical issues, case studies or industrial practices. They will represent discrete studies displaying skills of analysis and research, and require a personal individual statement characterised by a disciplined and thought through structure. As a guide, each piece of work will be 6,000-7,000 words.

1. Gain technical and communication skills to design, evaluate, implement, analyse and theorise about developments that contribute to professional practice or scholarship;
2. Acquire knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to a field or work and/or learning.
Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.
Assumed Prior Learning (or equivalent):
Only students admitted into the relevant Faculty of Society and Design programs are permitted to take this subject.
This subject is not available as a general elective. To be eligible for enrolment, the subject must be specified in the students’ program structure.
