BCUP01-009: World History and Politics

Only through gaining an understanding of how the past has shaped the present is it possible to understand contemporary social and political realities, and to discern prospects and possibilities for social and political change in the future. Through studying a series of key events in the history of the world in this subject, it is anticipated that students will also obtain a good understanding of social and political conditions which obtain in the contemporary world. Our journey begins with the Greeks, whose voices continue to echo down the ages, and ends with present-day struggles by Afro-Americans for their voices to be heard. Between these ancient and modern eras we will study the French, Russian and Chinese revolutions, and the world wars.
