BCDP02-040: Digital Transformation of Business

Description

The aim of this subject is to prepare students to effectively use, manage and participate in the development of information technology (IT) applications to enable and support business processes. It is organised around three central themes – design and planning, data-driven decision-making and business processes. Specific topics include the use of information systems to establish the competitive advantage, the range of information systems in businesses, business process modelling, and the ethical considerations in the use of technology in business.

Learning outcomes

1. Explain the importance and impact of information technology on modern business, organisations and careers.
2. Demonstrate the ability to use a variety of digital tools (e.g., project management software, spreadsheets, business modelling tools, data analysis) in a business context.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the key trends in digital transformation.
4. Analyse the impacts of disruptive technologies on business problems and processes and provide an appropriate recommendation to address them.
5. Deliver a logically constructed persuasive presentation using appropriate visual aids.
6. Articulate ideas, recommendations and related information in a clear, concise and professional writing style tailored to a specified audience.
7. Use appropriate software tools to plan, document, create and deliver a digital transformation project.
