‘Positivity and the Pandemic: Law Wellness Lessons Learned During Lockdown’

19 - 20 November 2021   Online

Call for Papers

The COVID-19 pandemic has had disastrous consequences for global health and wellbeing. But is there a silver lining behind this cloud? Has the pandemic prompted the adoption of strategies and the development of initiatives that have the potential to enhance lawyer and law student wellness? At the 2021 Law Wellness Forum we will examine the implications of the pandemic for law wellness, with an emphasis upon the positive. Has working from home and the transition to online engagement provided opportunities to improve our health and wellness? Have law schools and law firms been forced to increase their focus upon effectively engaging students with their learning, maintaining morale and supporting wellbeing? Have we identified new strategies to reduce stress and anxiety? Have we made changes that we will maintain even after life returns to ‘normal’ (whatever that means)?

The 2021 forum will be held entirely online – from 11am – 2pm on both Day 1 and Day 2 (to keep screen time and time away from daily work commitments manageable).   The forum will provide legal scholars, legal practitioners and law students with the opportunity to share research, scholarship, successful practice and personal experiences around the theme. The program will be a combination of plenary speakers, panel discussions, and paper and poster presentations. Day 1 will focus on wellness in legal education, and Day 2 will focus on wellness in the legal profession.

You are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words for either:

-  a paper presentation – 20 minutes; or

-  a poster presentation

If you have any questions about the Forum or wish to submit a presentation abstract (of no more than 250 words together with your brief bio), please contact Rachael Field [email protected]   by close of business 17 September 2021.

We look forward to your participation in the Forum.
