National Wellness for Law Forum - Call for papers

Proposal submission

You are invited to submit an abstract for either: 

  • a 20 minute paper presentation on an area of research or innovation in lawyer and law student well-being (with 10 minutes for questions and discussion); or
  • a poster presentation on a hot topic (which will be on display for discussion at all morning and afternoon teas).

Postgraduate student submissions, and submissions from international academics and practitioners, are strongly encouraged

Preparation of abstracts

Abstracts for a 20 minute paper presentations and poster presentations should be between 250 - 300 words.

Please ensure your abstract:

  • includes a paper title and a description of the paper or poster content.
  • addresses the selection guidelines below.
  • is written in Calibri font and text size 11 point with headings in Title Case.
  • is submitted in Word or PDF format.

Selection guidelines for abstracts

An abstract selection panel will consider all abstracts received and make decisions about those to be included in the program.

Criteria considered in the selection process:

  • Discussion of existing or proposed good practice and connection with the relevant literature.
  • Discussion of how what is being done or proposed builds on or extends current practice or knowledge.
  • Details about the approach or method adopted.
  • Currency of material.
  • Description of impact (or expected impact).
  • Originality and practicality of initiative.
  • Organisation and structure.
  • Clarity of style and expression.

Where an abstract is not accepted for a paper presentation it may be recommended as a poster presentation. The panel may also make suggestions regarding editing, and reworking or development of content to increase the suitability of the abstract for the Forum.

Important deadlines

  • All abstracts between 250 to 300 words, plus author/s biographical details up to a maximum 100 words, are due by: Friday 12 January 2018.
  • All successful submissions will be notified as soon as practical but at least by: Friday 19 January 2018.
