Back in the 1980s, a cohort of Gold Coast business, community and government leaders dared to challenge the status quo. “What would tertiary education look like if it was designed and delivered by a fully independent, private institution?” they asked.
Their blue sky vision included small, personalised classes where students would be mentored by world-class academics; an Ivy League style campus equipped with the best-of-the-best resources and facilities; a place where students from the Gold Coast would meet others from around Australia and all over the world, forming business connections and friendships that would last a lifetime.
Programs would be developed and delivered in partnership with industry, reflecting not just the workplace of today but the emerging trends and technologies of tomorrow. Instead of two semesters a year, Bond’s calendar would schedule three so students could finish sooner and be out in the workplace ahead of their competitors.
Thirty years down the track, 26,000 graduates have proven the success of the Bond University formula. They’ve forged high-flying careers, working in more than 100 countries worldwide and in some of the world’s most innovative start-ups, largest corporations and government organisations.
Homecoming might be over, but the celebrations aren't! Keep an eye out for the upcoming 30th anniversary events.
