Bond University has a burgeoning profile in health and sports science research. Major investment in infrastructure including the Bond Institute of Health and Sport have fostered collaborations between ‘bench top’ scientists and practitioners, providing opportunities for innovative research.

Bond University is the lead institution for the Collaborative Research Network for Advancing Exercise and Sports Science (CRN-AESS).  The CRN-AESS brings together partners from key research and sports science institutions including the Australian Institute of Sport building research capacity and excellence in exercise and sports science, human genetics and bioinformatics, to better understand health, human performance and injury management.

Bond is also developing a University Research Centre in Health and Human Performance to investigate proactive ways to manage health, fitness and injury in athletes and the wider community. Some areas of focus include how exercise can help to develop, maintain and optimise physical and mental health from childhood through to older years. A strength of the Centre lies in the integration of disciplines and combining methodologies to explore the role of exercise in prevention of disease, rehabilitation from injury and ill-health, maintenance of physical and cognitive function, and development of peak performance for individuals of all ages.
