Bella Danieli

Treasurer

Hey guys, Bella here. I’m a current Actuarial Science student in my 6th semester. I’m running for treasurer and am hoping to put my previous clubs experience to good use! I have spent this past year working closely on the club scene as the clubs and societies director an am looking forwards to potentially taking up a new position in this coming BUSA term. My main 2 goals being treasurer are to  provide aid to financially struggling clubs, via strategic options and avenues. This is immensely significant, given the continuing changes to funding allocations due to Covid-19. Having worked with the clubs I have been able to see firsthand what is available for them and have worked closely with them in terms of mitigating the costs for events and miscellaneous expenses. I understand what the impact of limited funding does for clubs and how it effects various clubs differently and would like to be able to make it easier for clubs to feel secure and supported. The previous treasurer has done a wonderful job at getting so far in this area and I would love to be able to continue these efforts. I would additionally like to ensure the continuation of the Westpac project, providing club, and BUSA unity. This is a project that I worked closely on throughout my previous term with the outgoing treasurer and club finance liaison and would love to have the opportunity to see it through.

Callum Lowe-Griffiths

Secretary

Hey Bondies, I’m very excited to announce that I’ll be running along with my pod ‘Vision’ as your Secretary candidate this year!

If you told me a year ago that I would be running for BUSA again, I would tell you it’s more likely that a novel virus would shut down the entire planet, but here we are! Clearly a lot has changed! My journey started in 171 and in my time as a Bondie I’ve been able to see how much better our on-campus experience can be. The accelerated courses mean that time you spend here is short, but I believe it is some of the best years of your life, and I’m making it my goal to ensure that each and every student feels this way.

Over my time at Bond I have been involved in multiple club committees and activities, and with that unfortunately this year I have witnessed first-hand the dramatic effect that this pandemic has had on Bondies. If I am elected as your 2020/21 Secretary, I guarantee you that through the guidance and support of their experienced executive members the 2020/21 BUSA committee will hit the ground running.

At the end of the day this is about you! BUSA exists to represent you, the student body. It is our pods ‘Vision’ to keep you guys updated with what we are doing at any given time. Accountability and transparency are such a big part of what we believe in, and we want to take genuine steps to ensure that we can improve your experience on campus.

Marquise Moore

Vice President Recreation

If you like how student events have been going thus far (even through corona) it could get a whole lot better! I’m Marquise and I’m currently the social director for BUSA 2020. I am running for Vice-President of Recreation due to my passion for a good campus culture and vibe. I also believe I would be a good VP-Rec because I have juggled the responsibilities of both Social Director and VP-Rec before and believe I could really help revive student events for on campus and remote students. If you’ve been to events like Mid-Sem, End of Sem and even O-week Trivia and enjoyed them, then please vote me in for the chance to enhance all aspects of Bond student recreation. I have the experience and the passion for these things and would love to be able to make it bigger and better for ALL students. I’m also committed to trying my best at including the various diverse groups of students at Bond! So please vote me as Vice-President of Recreation for BUSA 2021.

Conor Martin

Clubs and Finance Liaison

My name is Conor Martin I am originally from Toowoomba QLD. I am in my early 20s with a passion to make a difference in my community. I am currently living in Brisbane and have experienced remote learning being from a regional town. I believe that this has been a valuable experience in my life which enables me to help students who are currently studying in a multimodal environment. Currently I attend Bond University College and about to commence a Bachelor of Laws. The reasoning behind my decision to undertake a Bachelor of Laws is due to the simple fact that I enjoy the challenge!

BUSA is organisation that needs to rise to various challenges in order to support the most important stakeholder at university the students. I believe that my potential role will be about making sure that the clubs and society’s at Bond University is the life force of supporting students on campus. I believe that if elected I can rise to that challenge to help each and every student interested in any one of the fifty plus clubs or society here at Bond University.

My campaign pledge to the students is to be open and honest with the students and to be available to any student that has a concern or question regarding clubs and societies at the university. It is my promise that I will have an open-door policy and respond to emails within 24 hours.

To conclude I value honesty, respect, transparency, clear communication and abiding by my promises. I am very excited to potentially being able to be your representative to fight for the most important people on this campus the students.

Mitchell Dell

Social Director

Hi everyone, I am super excited to get started with the BUSA team for 2020/21. As restrictions ease and Don’s parties and social events get back to normal, I believe that I am the right person to look after your social life. I study a Bachelor of Sport Management and spend most of my time around the Bond AFL club, as well as hanging around campus. Moving from Devonport, Tasmania at the start of the year has been one of the best decisions I have made, and I hope that being on the BUSA team will be just as good.

At Bond, I am involved in several clubs including the Bond AFL club, Bond Touch Club and the Bond Elite Sport Program. I also froth a good Don’s party. I am very approachable and friendly, so please come and chat to me if you have any ideas for future events and we will see what we can arrange. I can remember the impact that the BUSA team had on me during O-week, so I will strive to have the same impact for all new students in the role of social director.

Chamudi Samaratunga

International Student Liaison

Hey, my name is Chamudi, and I am applying for the International Student Liaison position. The reason why I am applying for this position is because international students make up almost 50% of students at Bond and I hope to be able to represent and advocate for this large group of student body that at times may feel under-represented. I hope to work closely with Bond University College, Student Learning Support and Clubs & Societies on campus to ensure your voice is heard and to take on board ideas you have because I truly believe that everyone's input matters. I hope to help everyone feel welcomed and to ensure you feel that you are a part of the Bond Community. I am very open-minded and hardworking, and I love meeting people from all over the world. If you have any questions or concerns, no matter how big or small, please reach out, and I can most likely relate to your situation since I am also an international student from Sri Lanka.

I have developed strong communication skills, organisational skills, time management and advocacy skills through my experiences with the Asian Law Student's Association, 180 Degrees Consulting, Student Ambassador Program, Freshman Council and external volunteering work. I hope to utilise the skills I learnt in these programs to be the best representative for you. This is a position I am genuinely passionate about, and together I hope we can implement effective strategies to ensure your voice is heard. Katie Lander

Marketing Director

My name is Katie Lander and I am 18 eighteen years old. I have completed my Diploma in Built Environment and have transferred into Bachelor of Design in Architecture. I am very passionate towards architecture and I am excited to embark on this journey. I am from a small town called Katherine in the Northern Territory and I have spent fourteen years of my life there.

Coming from a small town in Katherine, Northern Territory. This meant attending a small school with limited opportunities I came to the realization that I was at a disadvantage in comparison to other individuals who may have come from larger cities with infinite possibilities. However, this did not bother or affect me as I dedicated my time to working part time and taking part in many study related extracurricular activities to bolster my resume. My current position reminds me that I now have accessibility to greater opportunities such as BUSA and experiences that in the future can aid my aspiring career of being a successful architect.

I love taking part in extracurricular activities, networking and doing things that are not restricted to the four walls of a classroom. I am an active member of the Women’s Bond AFL team. My hobbies include cooking and painting. Even though I am from a nonmarketing background I have traits such as collaborative nature, attention to detail, and ability to make data driven decisions that will assist me in marketing.

My future plans include completing my bachelor’s degree and gain work experience for a couple years in the industry. Following, I plan to come back to Bond to study my master’s degree to expand my knowledge and potential in my future workplace. On completion I plan to work again and eventually open up my own architecture firm which will focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly designs.
