About Building a Better Bondy

All Bond students have access to our new Community page on the iLearn system that will connect them to a wide range of wellbeing and study support initiatives. The Building a Better Bondy community contains six subjects:

  • Accessibility & Inclusion
  • Connecting Well
  • International Student Support
  • Living Well
  • Safe & Respectful Communities
  • Studying Well

These online modules and resources will assist students understanding of issues including:

About the modules and resources

Pride in Diversity

Bond University has become members of ACON as part of their Pride in Diversity initiative. Open up the Pride in Diversity module and following the login detauls to access a large collection of resources aimed at inclusion.   

Unconscious Bias

We encourage all staff and students to take the time to undertake the Harvard Implicit Association Test (IAT), the most effective online tool to gain greater awareness about one’s own biases, preferences and beliefs.

Pronoun Guide

Pronouns are the words we often use to talk about a person when we’re not using their name. These might be he/himshe/herthey/them or other pronouns. Use this guide to understand more about pronouns, why it’s important to use the right ones, how to use pronouns when affirming someone’s gender, and how to be a good ally to trans and gender diverse people.

This resource explores how we can talk about the trans people in our lives in a way that affirms them and ensures that the parts of their lives that are private, stay private

Wellbeing support for students during COVID

Although COVID has not been with us forever, it seems impossible to imagine a time when it did not exist. These resources are dedicated to offering assistance in as many forms as we could compile from healthy diets to healthy sleep habits.

The International Student Support resources include:

  • Gold Coast safety and living guides
  • Council of International Students Association
  • Limitless Learning
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • International helplines
  • International student study guides

Developed in collaboration with mental health experts, higher education professionals, and university students and staff, Being Well, Living Well takes a positive, preventative approach to help students maintain their mental, physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing.

The tookit is made up of four strands:

  • Strand 1: Living Well
  • Strand 2: Feeling Well
  • Strand 3: Staying Safe (you can find this under Safe & Respectful Communities)
  • Strand 4: Spending Well

There are three key courses withing Safe & Respectiful Communities:

1. Consent Matters

The Consent Matters course will provide you with an up-to-date approach on key concepts around sexual consent, communication and relationships and bystander intervention.

2. Staying Safe

Modules in this strand present practical, non-judgemental advice to help you make healthy and informed decisions about alcohol and drug use; to deal with relationship issues, including respect and resolving conflicts, and more.

3. Tackling Harrassment

By the end of this module you'll be able to define and recognise situations which constitute harassment, hate incidents and hate crime.
