Live at Bond

Concert program

Live at Bond is a series of free, all-ages concerts held at Bond University’s picturesque outdoor live performance space, the ADCO Amphitheatre.

The eclectic concert program features emerging and professional artists, and has built a strong following of music lovers since it began in 2011.

The 2018 finale concert will be on Sunday 4th November.

This show features a double header with multi award-winning Brisbane-based octet The Steele Syndicate, whose eclectic genre-bending sound reimagines elements of old school funk, reggae, ska and indie rock.  Rich vocal harmonies blend with a roaring, four-piece horn section and seriously infectious grooves, delivering acclaimed live sets.

The show closes with one of the country’s most vivid live acts, Vaudeville Smash, who deliver an explosion of funk, flute, sax, synth and groove and pretty much guarantee dancefloor mayhem wherever they go.  In case you’re wondering, they took their name from an Italian children’s karaoke machine that was around in the late 80’s.

I’ll be damned if Vaudeville Smash aren’t the most mind-blowingly refreshing live act to emerge from Melbourne since God knows when.” – Lachlan Kanoniuk, Beat Magazine.

Made up of three brothers and two mates, no other Australian band sounds like them.  Since their first gig in September 2009, Vaudeville Smash have carved their own niche and built a formidable following around the world.  They’ve played everywhere from the Sapporo City Jazz Festival to the USA’s epic South by Southwest, along with shows in New York, Singapore, Toronto, the Australian Open Tennis and unforgettable gigs at Woodford.

May 2014 saw another exciting chapter in the Vaudeville Smash story, with the release of the world wide smash, Zinedine Zidane, featuring the voice of Australian soccer, Les Murray.  The song became a viral hit with over ten million Youtube views and was featured in some of the biggest publications on the planet, including Billboard, ESPN, Eurosport and the BBC.
