Vice Chancellor and President

Professor Tim Brailsford

Professor Brailsford is the Vice Chancellor and President of Bond University. Professor Brailsford's previous positions include – Executive Dean at the University of Queensland, Dean at the Australian National University in Canberra, and other senior academic positions at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. He holds a PhD, along with Master and Honours degrees and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and Fellow of CPA Australia.

Vice President Operations

John Le Lievre

John Le Lievre (CA, CPA) has held the position of Director of Finance since January 1997. Prior to his affiliation with Bond University, he was Managing Director of EIE Australia. EIE Australia is a Japanese Investment Group which, through its parent, had a substantial stake in Bond University buildings and surrounding development land, investments in Australian Hotel and Tourism Assets. The most notable of these include – Sanctuary Cove, the Regent and Park Hyatt hotels in Sydney, along with other commercial and retail properties around Australia and the Pacific Rim. In addition, Mr Le Lievre was a Director of the Public Company, Barrier Reef Holding, Ltd, which operated hotel assets in Vietnam. During this time, he represented EIE International as an Alternative Director on the Bond University board and later as a Director.

Prior to joining EIE, Mr Le Lievre was employed by Price Waterhouse for 17 years – initially in the area of Audit, specialising in Banking, Financing and Agribusiness. He was also involved in various Pacific Rim assignments, particularly in investigations, reconstruction, acquisitions and mergers in Jakarta, Fiji, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. Mr Le Lievre was also a Director of Business Services in Price Waterhouse, Brisbane prior to joining EIE Japan.

Vice President Engagement

Ms Catherine Marks 

Catherine Marks joined Bond University as the inaugural Vice President of Engagement, a role to further develop Bond's reputation and profile. Catherine has over 25 years of experience in leading advancement and engagement functions, and award winning activity in UK Higher Education, including at the University of Edinburgh, the University of South Wales and more recently as Director for Global Advancement at Swansea University. 

Catherine is a trained Economist and holds a Masters in International Marketing from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has held positions and board memberships with police forces, the Audit Commission, within the global HE sector and with Welsh Rugby. Catherine and her family have settled on the Gold Coast to continue their love and enthusiasm for the outdoors on land and on the water. Catherine was previously a Senior Crew member of her local lifeboat station in Wales, conducting search and rescue operations in some of the most challenging waters in the UK.
