Secondary School Equivalence Table

Country Equivalence

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level subjects

A minimum of two and a maximum of three (the best three) A level grades are used for entry.
A maximum of two AS level subjects may be combined to substitute for one A Level subject.
Bachelor of Actuarial Science requires a minimum of 11.
Faculty of Law requires a minimum total of 10 points.
All other Faculties and programs require a minimum total of 5 points.
Points system:
A level subjects: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1
AS level subjects: A=2.5, B=2, C=1.5, D=1, E=0.5

Australia

Year 12 or equivalent (in other Australian states).

Brunei Darussalam

GCE A Levels (as per GCE requirements).

Canada

Faculty of Law: Provincial High School Diploma - best of 6 4U/4M (minimum 70% average).

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Provincial High School Diploma - best of 6 4U/4M (minimum 80% average).
All other programs: Provincial High School Diploma - best of 6 4U/4M (minimum 65% average).

China

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science:

1. Successful completion of senior secondary school from a selected high school - 65% average required.
2. Successful completion of senior secondary school in high school, not on selected list - 80% average required.
3. Completion of Unilearn Foundation Program (Level IV Advanced), after Yr 11. Grade of 5 required (60%-70%).

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Senior High School (Studentereksamen) with average grade 10.2 on a 12 point scale (prior to 2007 - 10.2 on 13 point scale).

Fiji

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Fiji Seventh form - 70% average in the best four subjects.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Fiji Seventh form - 80% average in the best four subjects.

Finland

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Matriculation Certificate (Ylioppilastutkintotodistus) - grade average of 4/7 in final year results.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Matriculation Certificate (Ylioppilastutkintotodistus) - grade average of 5/7 in final year results.

France

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Baccalaureat de l'Enseignement du Second Degre, Baccalaureat General, Baccalaureat Technologique, Baccalaureat Professionnel, Brevet de Technician or Diplome de Bachelier de l'Enseignement du Second Degre - minimum average of 11.2/20.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Baccalaureat de l'Enseignement du Second Degre, Baccalaureat General, Baccalaureat Technologique, Baccalaureat Professionnel, Brevet de Technician or Diplome de Bachelier de l'Enseignement du Second Degre -  minimum average of 16/20.

Germany

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Abitur - minimum average of 3.0 (when 1.0 is the highest).

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Senior High School (Abitur) - minimum average of 2.2 (when 1.0 is the highest).

Global Assessment Certificate (GAC)

Overall GAC Grade Point Average 2.6 (3.6 for Law).

Hong Kong

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education.

Requirement for the Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Grade Average of 4.8 from four Core Subjects plus the best grade in one Category A subject.

Requirement for the Bachelor of Laws: Grade Average of 3.6 from four Core Subjects plus the best grade in one Category A subject.

All other programs (excluding MBBS): Grade Average of 3.0 from four Core Subjects plus the best grade in one Category A subject.

Where: 5* 5**=6, 5=5, 4=4, 3=3, 2=2, 1=1; A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1; Attained with Distinction=3, Attained=1.

Iceland

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Studentsprof from Gymnasium - minimum grade of 6.0 - 10 point scale. BTEC National Diploma from a technical or vocational school.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Studentsprof from Gymnasium - minimum grade of 8.0 - 10 point scale. BTEC National Diploma from a technical or vocational school.

India

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: All Indian Secondary School Certificate (AISSC) or Indian School Certificate (ISC) - minimum 65% average.

 Minimum 70% average for the following State Board Secondary Education exit awards:
• Intermediate Certificate from the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education
• Pre University Certificate  from the Karnataka Board of Pre-University Education
• Higher Secondary certificate form the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education

Indonesia

Completion of SMA3 (Ebatanas: Sekolah Menegah Atas - now SMU3). Students qualify for Surat Tanda Tamat Belajar Sekolah Menegah Mum Tingat Atas (Senior Secondary School Certificate of Completion). An average of 8.1 required in final year subjects (where 10 is the highest grade). Not available for direct entry to the Bachelor of Actuarial Science. A pathway via the Bachelor of Commerce is recommended.

International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)

Bachelor of Actuarial Science requires a minimum of 33 points.

Bachelor of Laws requires a minimum of 31 points.

Bachelor of Business Law; Bachelor of Jurisprudence; Bachelor of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying; Bachelor of Sustainable Environments and Planning; Bachelor of Property; and the Science programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine (not MBBS)  require a minimum of 28 points.

Faculty of Business (unless specified above); non-Science programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine (not MBBS)  and the Bachelor of Psychological Science programs require a minimum of 27 points.

Faculty of Society and Design programs unless specificed above require a minimum of 24 points.

Italy

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Esame di Stato: minimum 75% average required.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Esame di Stato: minimum 84% average required.

Kenya

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education - average grade of B- in major subjects.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education - average grade of B in major subjects.

Malaysia

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Successful completion of VWO or Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs minimum average of 7.5 out of 10.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science:Successful completion of Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs or Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs minimum average of 8.4 out of 10.

Nigeria

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: West African Higher School Certificate - minimum average of 4.4 in the best 6 subjects.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: West African Higher School Certificate - minimum average of 5.4 in the best 6 subjects.

Norway

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Upper Secondary Certificate - Vitnemal; den Vidergaende Skole. Minimum grade point average of 3.5 (6 is the highest). Must satisfy requirements for admissions to universities in Norway ("og har oppnadd generell studiekompetanse").

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Upper Secondary Certificate - Vitnemal; den Vidergaende Skole. Minimum grade point average of 4.8 (6 is the highest). Must satisfy requirements for admissions to universities in Norway ("og har oppnadd generell studiekompetanse").

Pakistan

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Higher Secondary School or Intermediate Certificate (Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical streams) with a minimum of 70% average.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science:  Higher Secondary School or Intermediate Certificate (Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical streams) with a minimum of 73% average.

South Africa

Faculty of Law: National Senior Certificate - 5.6 grade average of best six subjects in final year (excluding Life Orientation).

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: National Senior Certificate - 5.8 grade average of best six subjects in final year (excluding Life Orientation).

Other programs: National Senior Certificate - 4.0 grade average of best six subjects in final year (excluding Life Orientation).

Please note the certificate needs to be certified or awarded by Umalusi Council.

Sri Lanka

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education a minimum aggregate of 5 out of 20 in the best 4 subjects.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education a minimum aggregate of 2.8 out of 20 in the best 4 subjects.

Sweden

All programs except Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Successful completion of Matriculation Certificate (Slutbetyg/Avgangsbetyg/Studentexamen). A minimum average of 2.3 out of 4.0.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Successful completion of Matriculation Certificate (Slutbetyg/Avgangsbetyg/Studentexamen). A minimum average of 3.2 out of 4.0.

Switzerland

Federal Maturity Certificate Maturitatszeugnis (German) with a minimum of 78% average.

Bachelor of Actuarial Science - Successful completion of one of the following with a minimum grade point average of 5.2 out of 6 (other programs 4.7 out of 6):
Certificat de Maturite (French), Baccalaureat, Attestato di Maturita (Italian), Cantolan Maturity Certificate - Kantonale Maturitat (German), Maturite Cantonale (French), Maturita Cantonale (Italian).

Taiwan

Senior High School or Junior College Diploma - a minimum grade point average of 90% (except for Bachelor of Actuarial Science which is not available for direct entry and it is recommended to pathway via a Bachelor of Commerce).

Tanzania

GCE A Levels (as per GCE requirements).

Thailand

Matayom 6 with a minimum average of 91% (except for Bachelor of Actuarial Science which is not available for direct entry and it is recommended to pathway via a Bachelor of Commerce).

United Kingdom

GCE A Levels (as per GCE requirements).

USA

Bachelor of Actuarial Science: Completed High School Diploma plus SAT I: Critical Reading, SAT I: Mathematics and SAT I: Writing with a composite score of at least 2325. A minimum of two and a maximum of four Advanced Placement subjects may be used.  ACT score of at least 35.

Bachelors of Laws: Completed High School Diploma plus SAT I: Critical Reading, SAT I: Mathematics and SAT I: Writing with a composite score of at least 2040.  A minimum of two and a maximum of four Advanced Placement subjects may be used. ACT score of at least 31.

Other programs: Completed High School Diploma plus SAT I: Critical Reading, SAT I: Mathematics and SAT I: Writing with a composite score of at least 1650.  A minimum of two and a maximum of four Advanced Placement subjects may be used.  ACT score of at least 24.                         

Bond University's SAT school code is 5345 and the ACT school code is 5370.

Zimbabwe
